Rural Parish Grant Scheme – Speed Limit Improvements

We are pleased to confirm that funding of £19,786 has been secured for the Rural Parish Grant Scheme, enabling a number of road safety improvement projects to move forward across the parish. Please note that Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is not usually involved in expenditure on highways, but is funding these rural road safety improvements as part of a special Borough wide initiative

These schemes have been developed in partnership with Kent County Council and are designed to enhance existing speed limit measures, helping to improve driver awareness and road safety within our rural communities.

As these projects are being delivered alongside the County's regular highways programme, works are being scheduled in phases across three delivery tranches and for our parish the work will be done in Tranche 3 – scheduled for delivery Summer 2027.

The following schemes within Speldhurst Parish are currently programmed for delivery :

  • Old Groombridge Village Centre - 30mph speed limit signing and road marking enhancements - £10,105
  • Speldhurst Road, Langton Green - 30mph speed limit signing and road marking enhancements - £9681
