Every picture tells a story, and the map(above) shows the precise impact of light pollution in the UK.
Based on the findings of our Str Count weeks earlier this year,
it highlights some blissfuly starry regions(indicated by the green dots),such as western Northumberland,where Kielder Water is currently campaigning to become Englands first dark sky preserve.However,it shows that more that half of us are experiencing severe light pollution(in red).
Although CPRE welcomed provisions against light pollution in the new NPPF,we are frustrated that Ministers are continuing
to grant exemption from the lighting nuisance regulations to
the major transport hubs and prisons-meaning that some of
the biggest light polluters will remin above the law.
